NEW location! If you’re a parent and a craving a “night on the town” but can’t stand the thought of leaving your kids with a babysitter, this activity is for you! One Saturday a month, Baby Loves Disco transforms the Trocaderos Night Club in Minneapolis into a child-proof disco for families with kids ages 6 months to 7 years old. The afternoon dance party features music spun by a real DJ, bubble machines, a chill-out area, diaper changing stations, a spread of healthy snacks and optional drinks for non-driving parents . Admission is $12 per person, and since this is one of the hottest tickets in town, don’t count on entrance without buying your ticket in advance. Check the website for online ticket availability. Non-walkers are free.

I have attended Baby Loves Disco many times since its inception. My daughters and I consistently have a very fun time. I do have a couple comments however. First, the price has continually drifted upwards. It is also worth noting that you have to pay for all walking (i.e., not crawling) disco-ers. Thus, for a family of four, it can get a little pricey. Second, they have not quite adjusted to the popularity of the event. When we have not purchased tickets in advance (see the event website), we have sometimes had to wait as long as 30 minutes to get in - they have a max capacity and you have to wait until people exit to get in (pre-purchased tickets are counted against the capacity so you do not need to wait to enter). Further, while they provide great kid-friendly snacks, on a couple occasions, the snacks have been nearly depleted well before the end of the disco-time.
