Recipe for Classic Sausage Egg Bake
Ingredients:
12 eggs
4 cups milk
6 slices dry, white bread, cubed
1 tsp. Salt
1 tsp. Dry mustard
2 cups cheddar cheese, grated
2 pounds spicy Italian sausage (casing removed), cooked and drained
Directions:
- Grease 9×13 pan and set aside.
- Whisk eggs, one at a time in a very large bowl.
- Add milk, salt and mustard. Stir.
- Place bread cubes in 9×13 pan.
- Spread crumbled sausage over bread.
- Sprinkle one cup of cheese over the top.
- Pour egg mixture into pan, pressing with spoon until slightly absorbed.
- Sprinkle remaining cheese over the top.
- Cover egg dish and refrigerate overnight.
- Let set at room temperature for 30 minutes before baking.
- Bake for 60 minutes, uncovered at 350 degrees, or until set. Let stand 10 minutes before cutting.
