The Como Zoo and Marjorie McNeely Conservatory are a great asset to Minnesota families. They are both free, but a voluntary donation of $2 per adult and $1 per child is appreciated. Parking is also free. The zoo and conservatory are open all year round, and the conservatory s especially enjoyable in the winter when families can get a taste of the tropics despite the frigid Minnesota weather. The zoo is appealing to families with young children since you can go for an hour and call it quits if your kids get a case of the crabbies without a large financial commitment. There are ample grounds for picnics and refreshments can be purchased on site. Besides the typical animal exhibits the zoo is adjacent to Como Town which is the newly remodeled amusement park for young children. The rides are great fun and reasonably priced. Some rides allow parents to join their youngsters for free. An unlimited seasonal ride pass can be purchased for about $60 per child. Don’t forget to view the entertaining seal show in the summer! The zoo also offers birthday parties which start at about $150 for 15 guests.
