Free Early Childhood Screening
Required by State Law for children ages 3-5 prior to entering kindergarten
In order for your child to start kindergarten in any Minnesota public school, they will need to undergo Early Childhood Screening. Early screening can detect possible health or learning concerns, so that children can get help before they start school. Early childhood screening is FREE. There is no incentive to wait until your child is older, so the earlier you have them tested, the better.
At your child’s screening, a trained professional will check your child’s vision, hearing, height, weight, immunization status, large and small muscle development and cognitive development. Please bring your child’s immunization records with you.
To find the nearest screening location near you and to schedule an appointment, contact your local school district or visit:
www.MNParentsKnow.info and search “Find a Program.”
