The Minnesota Zoo is a great outing in all types of weather. A household membership is about $75.00, so this might make sense if you are a “frequent flyer” or have lots of kiddos. The zoo is a great destination year round and we especially enjoy the indoor exhibits in the winter. There are bird and dolphin shows daily, as well as shark feedings. The monorail is a fun way to see the outdoor animals and we love the indoor room for toddlers. There are some reasonably priced and healthy food options in the cafeteria. The zoo hosts many special events on the weekends. We love the Family Farm Festival in the spring and summer.
Check out the newly opened exhibit Russia’s Grizzly Coast (opens June 7 2008), whihc includes Bears, Sea Otters, Wild Boars and Amur Leopards. The newly designed Central Plaza now includes a Splash Pad, a Lakeside Terrace, a new gift shop and the Grizzly Coast Cafe.
