Step onto a working 1860s farm. Pick heirloom vegetables from the garden, visit the farmhands and animals at the barn, or churn butter and see what’s cooking in the farmhouse. Costumed guides work the fields with oxen and horses. At different times throughout the season, you’ll see plowing with oxen, horse-powered threshing, hay making and other harvest activities. The gardens and fields are filled with many of the same plants the Kelley farm grew over 130 years ago. Animals similar to those raised by pioneer families fill the barn and outbuildings. In the house, try your hand at domestic crafts like making straw hats and soap. Adults are $8, Children 6-17 are $5 and children 5 and under are FREE! Seniors and Students with ID’s are $6. The farm has MANY special events like baby animal days, barn dances, festivals, etc…Check out their site!

Absolutely take your kids here. You will be amazed at how this adventure is so fun and so far away from the video-game-mentality. My seven year old plowed behind a team of oxen. My 4 year old made pickles. Everytime we go we learn something new and relevent. I can’t say enough good things.

It’s not always easy to find a destination for the day that can satisfy both kids - but this one always does. It’s sometimes surprising what they think was the most fun at the end of the day. After our first Kelley Farm visit it was hard narrowing it down to less than 10 best things! Some places you don’t really need to see twice… this is not one of those. Life on the Farm changes as the seasons change. We’ve even been able to visit in the winter! It sure makes you appreciate the easy life we live now.
