The Science Museum of Minnesota has an endless array of exhibits and activities that will please every member of your family. Explore the many galleries, watch countless science demonstrations, engage in hand-on activities or view one of the many films at either the Omni Theater or 3D Cinema. Admission fees start at $6. A family membership pays for itself within a few visits. The museum also offers a variety of educational classes for children and adults of all ages. Check the website for a list of current classes, exhibits, films and events.
Preschool Playdates
Preschool Playdates are held on Mondays from 9:30-noon with demos and performances geared towards preschoolers (ages 5 and under). Children ages 5 and under are free with a paid adult admission. View the Science Museum’s exhibit galleries all morning, create a "Jitterbug" make-and-take activity with everything you need to make your own robotic creation from 9:30-12:00, view special theater programs and demonstrations designed just for preschoolers at 10:00 am and listen to “Story time with a Ranger” in the Mississippi River visitor center at 10:30am. Plus, enjoy discounts in the museum store, restaurants and much more! If you have a family membership at the Minnesota Children’s Museum, show your membership card at the Science Museum and admission for Preschool Playdates is FREE for your family!
Current Special Exhibit:
Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination
This exhibit features more than 80 costumes, models and props from all six Star Wars films that invites visitors to defy gravity, manipulate robots and engineer droids. Costumed characters make special appearances at scheduled times. Special fees apply and advanced tickets are required. For available dates, see the museum website.

Special Effects shows daily in the Omnitheater through August 24, 2008.

Our kids have enjoyed the range of experiences the Science Museum provides. It has served as a great outlet for their busy minds as well as an opportunity to learn while having fun. Definitely a regular stop in our kids routine.
